Jennifer Aniston Will Play a Singer in Next Movie
Jennifer Aniston who is more popularly known as Rachel Green from the television series Friends is taking up a new role of becoming the executive producer of her forthcoming film Goree Girls.
Aniston will also be starring in the film as one of the singers in the band, which is based on a true story about eight women who are imprisoned and they go on to start their own music band. The movie is the actual story that happened during the 1940’s and the eight women prisoners who were jailed in Goree State Farm at Texas started the first all women’s musical group.
The movie idea was ignited from the 2003 Texas monthly that featured ‘O sister where art thou you?’ and the movie is based on the female prisoners who were serving the jail term for theft, murder and other criminal activities. These prisoners did not have any formal education or training in music but still they went on to form Goree All String Band.
Their lack of knowledge in music did not stop them from doing the impossible; they achieved popularity for a short period and also got a chance to perform live on the radio and gained almost seven million listeners for their performance, which was quite a feat. The Goree band also had a fan following with men proposing the women in the band and all. The members of the band were later acquitted and from then on the band dispersed.
Jennifer Aniston has teamed up with Kristin Hahn for producing the movie project and she has also tied up with DreamWorks for the same. The writer for this new film will be Margaret Nagle. Michael Sucsy of the HBO telepictures fame “Grey Gardens” will be making a directorial debut with this film and the shooting of the movie is likely to begin in January.
