Mad Men About Fashion
Mad Men, the very popular AMC series is one show that received rave reviews for razor-sharp script and refined acting with portraying life of one of the New York’s prestigious ad agency, the Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency and from a different angle. The series shows life from close quarters of those men and women whose personal lives become part of their work at the agency.
However, the series also has been honored for its fashion consciousness. The series portrays life 4 decades backs and so it features milieu and looks of yesteryears which include the lapeled kind of thin suits, puffed dresses, the crinoline gowns, Peter Pan collars and skinny ties, and even those forgotten pencil skirts. All of this in subdued hues had gotten the attention of fashion people from designers to and clothing makers and merchandisers.
For instance, The Banana Republic has come with new collection and they named it the ‘Mad Men’-inspired apparel. In fact the clothing merchandise is holding a contest with the offer of role in the Mad Men series for the contest winner. There could be more merchandises in the coming few days offering similar interesting contests while popularizing the 60’s looks and styling of ‘Mad Men’ through their brands.
Apparently, the Matthew Weiner’s popular American television drama series, Mad Men season 3 will start from the coming Sunday and no wonder it will spell its magic yet again with that 1960s looks and fashion on the American audience and will be a fashion favorite yet again discussed by the fashion insiders and gurus.
