Jim Dickinson, who is quite popular being the session player for Bob Dylan the singer died on Saturday. He was 67.

He was admitted for a heart surgery and Dickinson had been recuperating from his surgery at the Methodist Extended Care Hospital in Memphis at the time.

Dickinson became quite famous while working with Bob Dylan; however, he also had been a session player for Rolling Stones. Besides, he also had a decent solo career and produced some good bands including Big Star and The Replacements.

His wife Mary Lindsay Dickinson says of her husband, he had a great life. He loved his family and music. And he loved Memphis music, specifically. According to wife, Dickinson died in his sleep of unknown reasons.

It was recently in May he gave an interview during Dickinson tells that his love for music began very young; as early as a child after listening to songs coming from the radio at his home.

He was quoted of saying, “there was something about the voice coming out of the box that got me. That’s where it all started,” he told the Commercial Appeal in what would become his final interview.

The Memphis musician, Jim Dickinson, is survived by his wife Mary and two sons; Cody and Luther. Both his sons work for the family owned North Mississippi Allstars.

With death of Dickinson, The North Mississippi Allstars lost their dear father, Bob Dylan lost a brother, the ‘rock n roll’ lost its great cult hero and the entire Memphis lost their icon with the death of Jim Dickinson.
