Vanessa Hudgens Lands Bandslam Role
Vanessa Hudgens who is the star of Disney’s High School Musical is all set to play a role in the new film titled Bandslam. Vanessa plays the character of Sam, which is supposed to be very similar to her role as Gabriella in her series High School Musical.
The story and direction of the film Bandslam is by Todd Graff and the screenplay is by Josh A. Cagan. The film is about a singer and songwriter who passionately aim to defeat her former musician boyfriend in a band contest. And Vanessa plays one of the band members along with Alyson Michalka, Gaelen Connell and Lisa Kudrow.
Vanessa has auditioned for her role in the film Bandslam in spite of being a star. But Vanessa explains that she goes through the procedure of auditioning for all her work, as she believes that it is a competing factor and just being offered a role does not excite her that much. Her character Sam is one of an introvert when compared to her previous role as Gabriella in which she was easy going and a bubbly teenager.
Vanessa is more than happy to perform this new role and she also feels that her character of Sam will break her bubbly and joyous image. This character is completely the opposite of what she has done before and Vanessa thinks that doing the same kind of happy-go-lucky characters is rather boring and thinks that the audience will be annoyed.
Vanessa has also disclosed that she was unprepared for an audition but it seems she luckily found the song I found Rehab by Amy Winehouse and she happened to sing that in the audition.
The star also reveals that her greatest inspiration is Celine Dion and if not for her she wouldn’t have been singing. It seems Vanessa had stolen Celine Dion’s CD’s from her parents and would imitate the singer when she was nine years old. But of late Vanessa is a role model to many teenagers as Gabriella and she is happy about this fact but she still prefers to work in R-rated movies to be in the league of some serious acting. That said Vanessa promises to try and do both kind of movies to stay connected to her young fans.
